Official Trailer:
Do we think twice before deciding to buy a secondhand item online? Should we? After watching Target, the latest Korean thriller, we may think twice before we buy or sell online!! Target works for most part before it ends up in a conventional way. It builds the tension progressively notching it up higher and keeps us intrigued about the happenings. The protagonist buys a used washing machine online. It fails to work. Unable to get it fixed, she posts negative feedback on the seller. She also posts don’t buy from him on items he is trying to sell online. A bad move since she doesn’t know what she has triggered. Simple nagging things happen first, like food deliveries she didn’t order. Slowly the harassment and scarier meter hoes up. Few personal things go missing from home. She finds out cameras installed in her home. Movie cleverly blends the cybercrime, stalking, and home invasion themes. There is some misdirection with the boss character which isn’t effective, easily predictable. Director doesn’t reveal the real criminal till late in the story playing hide and seek. But post the home invasion that results in a death, movie takes a conventional route, baiting the stalker, cop car getting stuck in traffic jam, protagonist left alone with the criminal etc. If you have some time to kill and would like an easy watch, Target is a good pick.
