Official Trailer:

The opening stretch is one of the creative and energetic openings for a movie I have seen lately. Agan, the protagonist, enters the reception of his ex-girlfriend and wants to know the reason why she ditched him. In the heat of the moment when he tries to stop her, he inadvertently pulls the thaali from her neck. The ruckus that ensues uses is wonderfully shot using props one will see in a marriage hall. This sets the foundation and tone what we are going to see. Director keeps throwing surprises / twists at us. When we think the love story is going to make a left turn, it takes a right turn. As Agan says in the trailer. It aligns with Agan’s profession – throwing surprise parties for his customers. When Kural proposes to Agan, he rejects it with his reason. When Agan realizes he does love her, Kural has moved on. Once Agan is convinced about her love with Paari, we wonder where this story is going to go. A big threat, threat to life, comes from Kural’s father. How far Agan is willing to go to save Kural and unite her with Paari while protecting her from honor killing (don’t understand where the honor is in honor killing)? The way out Agan and Kural take will raise a debate. Agan does explain why he takes the fake marriage path in one line of dialogue. The director raises pertinent questions thaali vs feelings, caste pride vs marriage vs love. Why a boy and a girl falling in love gets so complicated in our society?

How Agan and Kural will get out of fake marriage keeps us engaged through the second half. When we expect a climax in airport, the story jumps in another direction. It is so refreshing to see Sarathkumar in his villainous role. His performance is so good to watch in pre-interval block. The lead performers Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju give their best. Both have a complicated character arc to pull off, and they have done an excellent work. Dude works because of the chemistry between Pradeep and Mamitha. Dude felt refreshing, fresh and fun to watch.
