Official Trailer: The Beekeeper

Official Trailer: The Equalizer 3

I am game for vigilante movies if they are well made and don’t get into right or wrong conflict. They give us an escapist avenue, a fantasy, where bad guys get their due punishment. We know in real world vigilante justice is incorrect, need to follow the law and only courts can decide on the guilt and quantum of punishment. Thanks to imperfect system, we have the vigilante movies. At least in the movies we have our hero who hunts the bad guys and dishes out justice. Good vs bad and good triumphs except the good guys are shades of grey when it comes to the ethics compass 😀

Beekeeper’s premise of cybercrime is relatable. Know of relatives and friends who have lost huge sums of hard-earned money to these scammers with no hope of getting the money back. But not with Beekeeper. Adam Clay, played by Jason Statham, is a beekeeper. Someone very important to him is scammed and she commits suicide. Adam sets out on a hunt and burns down one of the swanky offices of the scammers. Bad guys destroy his beehives and come after him. Except that they didn’t know Adam Clay was an agent in a classified program called Beekeepers who will not stop at anything to do the right thing, to get the equilibrium back in the hive even if that requires the queen to be eliminated. Adam sets out on a vengeance, fights get brutal, and the quest leads to the top, the White House 😀 Fast paced action, set pieces, cheesy one-liners keep you entertained. Now this a good time pass movie under 1h 45m.

Equalizer 3 has a storyline similar to its prequals. Robert McCall, played by Denzel Washington, finds his life purpose in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. This time he is in a beautiful village in Southern Italy. He makes new friends and feels at home. He discovers that the village is under the control of local crime bosses. He gets in to action. Events turn deadly and leads to a bloody showdown. In all this melee, there is CIA trying to track down terrorist activities. Gore and brutality go up few notches in Equalizer 3 compared to earlier installments. As expected, mafia guys underestimate Robert McCall who is a beast. Typical Robert McCall style action, Denzel’s performance, one-liners keep you entertained. Plus, a retired couple gets their retirement funds back which was lost in a phishing scam, thanks to our Robert McCall who fights for the common man. Good time pass movie under 1h 49m.
