Official Trailer:
Exiting the movie hall, you get the feel of having watched an engaging, satisfying thriller. You have nothing but appreciation for the director, Magizh Thirumeni. This is a director’s movie, and things fall in place with all others contributing to director’s vision. He does takes time to setup the premise, but post that director makes sure we play catch up with the him. Thrill of watching who-done-it thrillers is that you want to guess the director’s next move. Here we think we are ahead, but we move back to square one like the cops. Even the final twist fell in place, may be a stretch but not implausible. Kavin does say he took a gamble and it paid off. There is good amount of smart writing that has gone in from the director. Movie looks slick with no wasted scenes.
Usually in movies about twins, one will be on the run for the crime committed by other but the twist here is that both get caught and end up as suspects for the murder. Every lead the cops pursue bring them back to the beginning. Initial courting scenes came out as creative and fresh. Plot threads used to define the characters of Ezhil and Kavin, are innovative, like the ATM con job or IPC legal knowledge to get Yogi Babu out of potential jail term.
There are few minor negatives that could have been avoided, one with use of Yogi Babu’s looks for comedy, don’t know when Kollywood will stop doing this, and another with erasing of key evidence. Especially second one came as a surprise since I am sure director knew he is going for the lowest common denominator in that scene. Considering what he has done with rest of the movie, he could have easily reimagined the whole scene in a much smarter way.
Nice write up without revealing the storyline as I am yet to watch and want to watch without any clue about the storyline.
