Thimiru Pudichavan – a good time pass pulp masala movie where the director has a good handle on the genre and surprises the audience with an interesting take in few crucial scenes. This makes the movie work unlike movies like Tirupachi, Arul, or Tirupathi. Biriyani scene, encounter between Meesai Padma and Murugavel at the 5-star hotel, interaction between Murugavel and a father at the station with crow-water-stone story, worked so well. Some scenes were so silly they were so good kind, like the rooster scene or the whole Crank movie inspired insomnia with low and high BP. Director to watch out for.

Official Trailer:

Nathicharami – when sex is still a taboo subject in our society, it is so heartening to see a movie like Nathicharami, from Sandalwood, that explores widow’s sexuality. So far, in our *woods, women who express their sexual desires are either shown as a vamp or a slut. Here we get a boldest attempt from Director Mansore, where the widow in the film not only asks for it, she wants it without commitment and not ashamed of it. Now that is as bold as it can get. Why do I say that? Do we have an audience for movies where we reverse the genders of protagonists in Sindhu Bairavi or Mudhal Mariyadhai? Director handles the sensibilities of underlying theme in a matured way and strikes the right chord. Movie is slow moving with less dialogue, more visual and credit goes to actors who take it up a notch with their performances.
